Progress so far

At the time of writing, the 💚ADDIX+FOMO🐸 Validator node sits at #102. We launched exactly 6 weeks ago, and the progress has been solid. Over 3m XRD delegated is nothing to be sniffed at, and we are delighted with the support the community has shown!

During this time we have been able to see what has and hasn’t worked, but crucially take lessons from other projects and apply them here. It is only right to give props where they are due, and so we will do just that!

Macro and Micro

Crypto is a wonderful, mostly transparent space, where users can see what others are doing, and incorporate the good, while discarding the bad. We are able to stand on the shoulders of giants. On a Macro level, we can see leaps being made when for example, Ethereum took trustless transactions of value that Satoshi pioneered, and expanded this to trustless execution of Smart Contracts, unlocking near infinite possibilities through dApps. I truly believe we are currently witnessing a similarly seismic advance, with Dan’s pioneering and elegant work on sharding facilitating the demands that mass adoption would place on a would-be global platform.

In the memecoin world that I inhabit, Vitalik and Dan occupy other realms. This doesn’t mean however, that we can’t take a look at what works around us, on a more humble, human and micro level, and incorporate those wins. Staking on the shoulders of giants did just that, and with this piece I hope to do something similar, and pay homage to those projects helping us to be better, and what has inspired us to evolve and improve.

The OGs & Big’uns

Let’s start with the OGs. For me, DogeCube and Bobby are great examples of community-born projects that launched, brought so much fun and positivity to the Radix space, and have since grown and evolved to incorporate now iconic features such as the Bobby Loot Box and cornerstone’s of the ecosystem such as the Dogecube Index - following their legendary meme brawl airdrop distribution. Without these guys starting it off, I don’t think we have the abundance of community projects that we have now.

Following in the footsteps of these Radix OGs, we have Hug, Early and WOWO. Hug demonstrated the power of harnessing positivity in what was a pretty bleak period for XRD holders. At a time when most people (especially me!) were moaning about price, Zombie decided to launch a feel-good project, and grew it to be the largest project on Radix by MCap, a phenomenal achievement. Their Proof of Hug went on to inspire countless projects, including and especially ours(!), and they continue to trail-braze with new features, making it easy for others to follow.

Early brought the best memes, distribution, and most energised community - and when we thought that was it, ED started working his magic; Tipbot, earlyAlerts and dynamic NFTs - things never seen before in the ecosystem. Early has made everyone up their game in terms of what their projects actually do, and still provides the gold standard on Radix for distribution.

WOWO showed how to successfully launch with a pre-sale, and inspired many others to do the same. Since then, they too have incorporated novel tech, and shown everyone the importance of gamifying projects.

The New Kids on the Block

$Dan, despite being later to the party, has set the gold-standard in terms of pre-sale and team allocation. Their Tokenomics ensured that the moment the Liquidity Pool was added, everyone from the pre-sale was immediately in profit. This was partnered with the best liquidity:MCap on Radix, and some of the best memes. Perhaps their most impressive contribution however, was a total of 2% allocation to the team; something that is yet to be replicated elsewhere, and inspired us to reduce our own holdings.

Duckk. Quite simply the best artwork, some of the funniest memes, and one of my favourite hangout TGs. Duckk started off and continues to call out Rugs, but is now making everyone raise their level of art and visuals. A constant source of fun to see what they’re cooking.

We Are Monstas have been a huge inspiration in terms of their generosity and fun. Building features and giving them out for free is something that has caught on thanks to Monstas, and they continue to look for ways to bring fun to the community, like their NFT Racing launching soon.

Last and perhaps most importantly for us, Edge. A huge inspiration for us launching the Validator was a call I took with Dogs of Radix, without which we probably wouldn’t have gone for it. What was so cool about the way they did their node, was how in-tune with their community they were.If something didn’t quite chime, they were able to adjust and tweak their incentives to enter into the set. Since that point, they’re now established. Perhaps more than anything, seeing their agility and flexibility inspired us to do the same, and make this change.

Fuck me, You done with the shout outs?

Yes, I know it was verging into You’re-giving-an-acceptance-speech-for-an-award-you-haven’t-received territory, but it was important. It’s not like we’ve come up with these ideas on our own, and so shouting out those who have influenced and inspired us felt like both a nice and important thing to do!

Cool. So what are the changes then?

Specifically that we are beginning the rewards for those delegating to the node now. We had planned on waiting until we enter the set, but this is a way to say thank you for those already delegating, and encourage others to do so. $HIT will be sent out manually in the first instance. At the time of writing, a Smart Contract is being tested in Mainnet, that would allow for trustless distribution. A delegator will first mint a very special NFT, which will give them badge privileges, then will be able to claim their share of $HIT directly to their wallet, on a weekly basis.

By beginning to send rewards now, before we enter the set, we’re making our commitment to entering the set loud and clear. In for a penny and all that.

What’s happening with FOMO?

There is 1% FOMO earmarked for the moment we enter the set, distributed proportionally to those staking to the validator. FOMO have a few other incentives that will be released very shortly. At this point, excitingly, FOMO will be completely diluted, and XRD raised from the validator will go FOMO buybacks which will be distributed via FOMO Staking.
